神戸市灘区の石炭火力発電所新設計画に対して、地域住民から反対の声があがっています。PM2.5をはじめとした大気汚染物質と、市全域の排出量に匹敵する量のCO2を排出する発電所。気候変動の影響が顕在化している中、被害を回避するための司法の役割を問います。

There is opposition from local residents regarding the construction plan for a coal-fired power plant in Nada Ward, Kobe City. The power plant emits a significant amount of air pollutants, including PM2.5, as well as CO2 emissions equivalent to the entire city’s output. With the visible impacts of climate change, the role of the judiciary in preventing damages is being questioned. In March 2023, the Supreme Court dismissed the plaintiffs’ appeal and rejected their application for a review in the administrative lawsuit against the government.
