新たなケースとして、「平和の島であるために ― 馬毛島の自然と自治を守る裁判」が掲載されました。
ケース概要：
鹿児島県・馬毛島（まげしま）で、自衛隊と米軍の共同使用を前提とした巨大基地建設が進められています。森は削られ、海は濁り、漁の営みや島の自然が失われつつあります。しかし、市民への十分な説明も議論もないまま、市は市有地の売却と市道の廃止を決めました。
かつては森と草原にマゲシカをはじめ多くの生き物が息づいていた馬毛島は、今や大規模な造成によって大きく姿を変え、島で暮らす人々の不安や声は、行政や国に届かないままです。
このケースは、馬毛島を「平和の島」として未来へ手渡すための、そして住民の声を司法の場へ届けるための訴訟です。

A new case, To Remain an Island of Peace ― The Trial to Protect Mageshima’s Nature and Autonomy has been published.
Case Summary:
In Kagoshima Prefecture’s Mageshima, the construction of a massive base for joint use by the Self-Defense Forces and the US military is underway. Forests are being torn down, the sea is being polluted, and the island’s natural environment and fishing livelihoods are being lost. Yet, without providing citizens with adequate explanations or allowing for proper debate, the city decided to sell city-owned land and abolish a municipal road. This trial is a fight where citizens raise their voices to protect the environment, their livelihoods, local autonomy, and the Island of Peace.
Once home to a rich variety of wildlife, including the Japanese serow, amidst its forests and grasslands, Magejima Island has now been drastically transformed by large-scale land development. Yet the concerns and voices of the island’s residents remain unheard by local and national authorities.
This lawsuit aims to ensure that Magejima Island is passed on to future generations as an “Island of Peace” and to bring the residents’ voices before the courts.
