ケース概要：
海外に暮らす有権者の主な投票方法は、在外公館投票か郵便投票です。しかし2026年2月、戦後最短の日程で行われた総選挙では、解散前から手続きしていたにも関わらず、原告らの一票は投開票日までに届きませんでした。同じ経験をした人、諦めた人もいます。どこで暮らしていても特別な負担なく投票できる制度をつくることは、民主主義の土台を守ることです。原告らとともに、一人ひとりの「一票」を守る制度を求めます。

A new case, "Lawsuit to Protect the Right to Vote from Abroad! Challenging Japan's Overseas Voting System" has been posted.
Case Summary:
Japanese voters abroad have two main ways to cast a ballot: at diplomatic missions or by mail. But in the February 2026 general election—held on the shortest schedule in post-war history—the plaintiffs’ ballots failed to arrive by election day, even though they initiated the necessary procedures before the Diet was dissolved. Others have faced the same problem, while some gave up voting altogether. A system that lets everyone vote without undue burden, wherever they live, is essential to democracy. Together with the plaintiffs, we are calling for a system that protects every individual’s vote.
